Chronicles of Guanshan: Ten Thousand Temples, One Light Official Teaser: This Pass We Hold

An original 3D science fantasy animation inspired by the legacy of Guan Yu, the ancient architecture of Shanxi, and a future crisis threatening humanity’s cultural memory. Set in 2149, the story follows Jin Yao, an architectural conservator searching for her missing father inside a Guan Yu temple targeted for erasure by a superintelligent system known as Wuqi. The statue remains seated in the hall, yet its armed shadow has already crossed the threshold. When the enforcer known as the Marquis of Order arrives to erase the temple’s memories, an ancient guardian raises the Green Dragon Crescent Blade once more to defend humanity’s freedom to choose, remember, and inherit its past.

The film combines Chinese mythology, futuristic science fiction, ancient architectural wonders, mystery, and cinematic action. Its original world imagines Shanxi’s historic buildings as vessels of civilization’s unaltered memories. Jiezhou Guandi Temple, Yongle Palace, the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the Yungang Grottoes, and the Ancient City of Pingyao become essential parts of the story. Bracket sets, mortise and tenon structures, murals, and traditional construction principles transform into the physical laws of a vast memory realm, creating an epic visual experience shaped by Eastern aesthetics and cinematic 3D production.

Built around Guan Yu as its central cultural icon, the project reimagines the values of loyalty, righteousness, courage, and integrity for a future age. It introduces an original narrative system featuring Jin Yao, the Marquis of Order, the Wuqi intelligence, and a world formed from humanity’s cultural memories. From character and weapon design to architectural art direction and science fantasy storytelling, the project establishes a distinctive original IP with the potential to expand into an animated series, continuing stories, cultural content, and character based productions.
